Hi there! I'm Viscera! I also go by "Vi", "Vivi", or any other variation of that name you can think of. I'm a 19 y/o aromantic, nonbinary lesbian and I use it/its pronouns. My birthday is July 25th. I'm a furry, an artist, and I currently work as a dog daycare attendant, with plans to become a dog groomer! I have four pets - 2 dogs (a golden retriever named Poppy and a deaf mixed breed named Olaf) and 2 cats (a blind cat named Stevie and another cat named Heidi). They are my everything and I'd kill a man just to protect them. A little bit to know about me: Despite the goth aesthetic of this website, I'm actually a fan of several different aesthetics, mainly ones with elements of horror, surrealism, and/or childhood nostalgia. My 'personal aesthetic' is completely unique to myself and is ever-changing as I discover more about myself. IRL I mainly just dress in casual clothes and accessorize mainly with chains and beaded bracelets. (Any metal jewelry I wear HAS to be silver, though, no exceptions!!!) Some of my personal values are that I'm an animal lover and environmentalist, and I'm not a fan of politics unless it's something I feel is extremely important. I believe that most discourse is pointless and harmful, only serving as ragebait that never leads to more productive discussion. And, most of all, I believe in being your true, honest self, be your interests mainstream or obscure, let your light shine! Don't fall into the trap of pretending your entire life is ironic - Be weird, gross, unapproachable, and YOU!
I made my own website because I have a strong interest in the early internet and believe that the internet should be a vast "wild west" as opposed to everyone being shoved onto the same 5 websites owned by the same 3 companies all trying to rip each other off. It's no different than why so many others made personal sites, honestly. While I have no personal nostalgia for the era of personal Geocities sites, I noticed in all my time on the internet that social media has gotten progressively worse - lack of customization, poor moderation, rude userbases, promotion of FOMO, the works. Even the lesser used and more customizable social sites were displaying some of these issues and it was starting to make the internet, what was once a source of joy and an escape from my struggles in real life, an uncomfortable place to be. The only social sites I truly wanted to be on anymore were niche art websites, Discord servers, and forums with smaller communities and active moderation. I figured that the best way to solve the issues I was having was to turn my "profile" into a full-on website - starting with my webcomic, Roadkill, and eventually this website as well. I don't hate social media and want to see it improve, but having a personal website free from censors and nasty comments, where I could make everything look and run exactly how I wanted, makes me feel like I can take back control of the addictive and toxic nature of the modern day internet without feeling like I had to quit posting. I'm still active on other websites, but I definitely prefer this website above all else.
My fursona is Viscera, an axe-weilding nudibranch girl. IT IS NOT A RABBIT, despite what a lot of people mistake it for!! It's the white sea bunny character you see all over the website and in a lot of my art! Why I chose a nudibranch as my fursona is mainly just because I think they're cute and they aren't the most common species in the furry community, so I knew it'd stand out. Viscera is a vengeful spirit out to take it's axe to everyone who's every wronged it - Acting simultaneously as killer and victim, I can use Viscera in any way I want to portray the emotions I'm feeling at any given time. You'll also see artwork involving my other 2 personas and characters from my stories!
Like my real life sense of style, my art is inspired by gothic and emo aesthetics, horror, and surrealism. I'm less focused on making my art look clean/perfect and more on making something that I find visually appealing and that gets across whatever I'm trying to portray. My art is usually mixed-media and highly experimental, so I'm not particularly married to any specific aspect of my style and I'm always trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. My art can range from being displays of my mental and physical health, to being something meant to tell you about my characters. A lot of my characters are from projects that are still in the works, so currently available information on them might be inaccurate, but if you're willing to stick around - I'm sure you'll love to learn more about them! I plan for every original character you see in the gallery to be featured in some sort of story project, if they aren't already being used. ;3
